Pixel Armada FAQ
Quick answers about how Pixel Armada works — leaderboards, controls, the campaign loop, and audio.
What is Pixel Armada?
A retro-minimal arcade shooter built into Arctovec Games. Five hand-designed levels that loop with rising difficulty, three lives across the whole run, simple power-ups, and a local leaderboard.
How many levels are there?
Five in v1. Clearing all five increases the wave counter by one and restarts the campaign at level 1 with faster enemies.
What happens after I beat level 5?
The campaign restarts at level 1. Each restart bumps the wave counter and applies a difficulty multiplier to enemy speed, projectile speed, and fire rate. Your score and lives carry over.
How do I get on the leaderboard?
When your run ends, if your score qualifies for the local top 10 you'll be prompted to enter three initials. The entry is stored in your browser only.
Is the leaderboard global?
No. Pixel Armada v1 stores leaderboard entries in your browser via localStorage. There is no server, account, or sync.
Can I play on mobile?
Yes. On-screen left, right, and fire buttons appear below the playfield on mobile. Desktop uses arrow keys or A/D plus space.
Why does the game pause when I switch tabs?
To avoid losing lives in the background while you can't see the screen. The runtime resumes automatically when the tab regains focus.
Is there sound?
Sound effects only — short code-synthesized cues. There is no background music in v1.
