Snowline runs die to clutter, not bad luck. Every strategy below is about the same thing: keeping small snowballs from getting buried where they can never merge.
Keep the big ones low and to one side
Large snowballs are your foundation, not your problem. Steer Icebergs and Glacier Chunks toward one wall and let them settle at the bottom. A sorted jar — big on one side, small on the other — gives every future drop a matching neighbor. A jar with an Iceberg in the middle splits your space in half and strands small balls in pockets.
Don't bury your pairs
The most common run-killer is dropping a fresh ball on top of the one it should have merged with — but slightly off-line, so they never touch. Take the extra half-second to aim. If a matching ball is visible, drop straight onto it; contact is what triggers the merge, and a direct hit merges before the pile shifts.
Use the walls
Balls dropped against the wall have only one direction to roll: inward, toward the pile. That makes wall drops the most predictable placement in the game. Center drops can scatter off the top of the pile and end up anywhere — save them for when the middle is genuinely flat.

The HUD always shows what's loading next. If the next ball matches the one you're holding, plan both drops as a pair — place the first one somewhere open, then drop the second straight onto it for a clean merge with no digging.
Chains are where scores come from
A merge spawns its new ball at the contact point — and if that new ball touches its own twin, it merges again instantly. Setting up two Ice Balls side by side and dropping the ball that completes the chain can cascade three or four tiers in one drop. Chains score far more per drop than isolated merges and, just as importantly, they collapse pile height.
Respect the frost timer, don't fear it
Crossing the frost line starts a one-second timer; dropping back below resets it fully. A tall pile that's about to cascade is safe to push one more drop onto — the merge will collapse it. A tall pile with no pending merges is a run that's already over; spend your last drops on whatever merge sheds the most height.
The Aurora Core is a marathon
Reaching tier nine takes 256 Snowflakes' worth of material, so treat it as a whole-run project: pick your Iceberg corner early, keep feeding that side, and don't let a second Iceberg form in the middle. Two Icebergs merged is the 1,000-point jackpot — and the pair collapses back to a single Snowflake, clearing most of your jar as the reward.
